Strengthening STEM learning pathways in Perú

As part of the National Council of Science, Technology and Technological Innovation (CONCYTEC) initiative, supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), we joined forces with Ibergeo and KIMbcn to strengthen Peru’s network of science and technology clubs. This project aimed to expand STEM education opportunities across the country, bridging territorial gaps and fostering early scientific vocations among students in underserved communities.

The initiative culminated in the design and implementation of Desafío Amauta, a national pilot program that engaged nearly 60 schools and hundreds of students and teachers in addressing real-world sustainability challenges through science and technology.

Our Contribution

  • Platform Development: We designed and developed the Desafío Amauta web platform, creating a centralised digital space for outreach, club registration, and access to educational resources.
  • Educational Content Creation: We produced digital learning materials, including video tutorials for students and teachers. From conceptualisation through post-production, these resources supported training in critical thinking, solution design, sustainability, and scientific communication.
  • Research and Communication: We conducted benchmarking of successful national and international STEM experiences, analysing best practices and governance models.
  • Communication: we produced communication and outreach materials, notably including the creation of a documentary video showcasing the journey and impact of Desafío Amauta, making the project’s achievements visible to broader audiences.
