At Ersília Foundation, we are proud to be part of the Innovation Alliance on Circular Design (CiD) and participate in GreenInCities, two groundbreaking European projects that aim to reimagine urban areas through fostering transdisciplinary collaboration. These initiatives bring together people, designers, technicians, decision-makers, and experts from diverse disciplines to co-create climate-resilient, socially inclusive cities that prioritize well-being and sustainability.
GreenInCities
GreenInCities focuses on enhancing the Societal Readiness Level of nature-based solutions in deprived areas. By integrating nature into urban planning, the project seeks to address societal challenges, improve the quality of life for residents, and create greener, more inclusive cities.
Innovation Alliance on Circular Design (CiD)
CiD places design at the heart of the transition to climate-neutral cities. The project emphasizes the role of circular design in developing sustainable urban environments, where resources are reused and regenerated, contributing to a healthier planet.

Key Similarities Between GreenInCities and CiD
Collaborative Urban Regeneration
Both projects emphasize the importance of engaging multiple stakeholders to reshape urban areas and promote social inclusion. By involving communities, policymakers, and experts, these initiatives ensure that the solutions developed are holistic and impactful.
Innovative Use of Technology
Whether through co-creative tools in GreenInCities or bio-based innovations in design in CiD, both projects push the boundaries of what technology can achieve in urban development. These technologies are crucial for implementing sustainable solutions that are both effective and scalable.
Circular Economy & Sustainability
CiD’s focus on circular design and GreenInCities’ dedication to nature-based solutions align with broader European Union policies promoting sustainability and regeneration. These projects contribute to a circular economy by reducing waste and promoting the reuse of resources.
Long-term Impact
Both initiatives aim to leave a lasting impact beyond the project’s lifespan. By promoting knowledge exchange and establishing frameworks, they ensure that the benefits of their work will continue to support urban ecosystems in the future.

Together, these projects leverage the power of design, technology, and community to build greener, more resilient cities. By aligning with the goals of the New European Bauhaus and the European Green Deal, they pave the way for a future where cities are not just spaces to live but catalysts for sustainable change.
Stay tuned for updates on our journey towards climate-resilient, circular urban spaces!
